READ! 365 encourages organizations of all types to develop their own programs around early literacy, focusing on activities that fit their particular interests.
Whether the program is directed toward employees, customers, the community as a whole (or all of the above!), every activity that makes people more aware of and involved in early literacy helps our children READ! 365. Get in Touch with us online or call 412-365-2034. We’ll work with you to help your program be a great success.
Ideas that you can expand upon or tailor to suit your organization, physical location, and other factors include:
Create a Story Hour Program at your retail locations, a community park, or other gathering point. Encourage interested employees to read to children. Bring in special guest readers from time to time to spark interest, or educators who can provide reading tips for parents.
Create a Reader’s Club. Offer reward points or discounts for reading a specified number of books or meeting other requirements that you establish. Partner with local schools, community groups, or churches / synagogues to develop requirements and help you track them.
Provide Unique Educational Materials. Literacy organizations will welcome the opportunity to work with you to devise age-appropriate activity pages and other materials for children and / or parents or teachers. These can be developed with your particular focus in mind.
Launch a Signature Promotion. Develop a reading program that fills a special need you want to embrace. Hold the biggest, best “book-swaps” or other events to make sure books get into every child’s hands. Establish a namesake Reading Summer Camp or Skills Clinic, or launch a new publication, just for kids.
There’s no end to the possibilities or the good you can accomplish!
