READ! 365 is all about making people aware of how important it is to read to young children every day and, more importantly, getting everyone involved in that effort.

Why READ! 365?

Reading to children every day, starting from birth, is the surest way to help them become enthusiastic readers and capable learners all their lives.

Reading together for as little as 20 minutes a day teaches children important language skills well before they enter school, and the experience makes reading a joyful part of life right from the start. Children who grow up with reading gain the skills and confidence to become strong students and grow into educated, successful adults. Reading is not only our children’s future, it’s our future.

The What & How of READ! 365

As a public awareness and action campaign, READ! 365 serves to inform people about early literacy and urge everyone to get involved in some way. Together, we can make a real difference.

READ! 365 supports the efforts of literacy organizations throughout the region. It also serves as a community-wide resource: providing information and educational materials, directing parents and caregivers to literacy programs, and recruiting volunteers for those programs.

Who is READ! 365?

READ! 365 is for everyone: parents, grandparents, teachers, caregivers, community volunteers, business organizations… everyone who cares about kids! Most of all, it’s for our children.

Funding to establish READ! 365 has been provided by The Heinz Endowments, The Grable Foundation, and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The Campaign partners with agencies, organizations, businesses, and foundations. READ! 365 will continue to seek support throughout the community.

READ! 365 is a campaign of Beginning with Books.
